Business websites are the most popular way that small business leaders plan to attract customers through marketing activity, a recent survey has revealed. Small wonder then, that Marketing Zone has seen a surge in demand for hard-working websites amongst our small business clients this year.

These marketing trends were identified in a 2016 LeadPages and Infusionsoft survey of over 1,000 small business owners.

Small business marketing

When asked which marketing channels they use, this is what small business owners said:

72% – our website
43% – digital advertising and social media
40% – email marketing
30% – print advertising and direct mail
26% – landing pages/purpose-specific web pages
22% – telemarketing & in person marketing
13% – none of these

The majority of small businesses use their website as their main marketing channel, and over half plan to spend more on web advertising.

While small businesses have embraced the need for online digital marketing, that doesn’t mean that they are ignoring very traditional forms of marketing like print ads and direct mail.

A quarter of small businesses will spend more on print advertising and direct mail, whilst one in ten are putting more budget into telemarketing and face-to-face selling.
